So, you need to focus on keeping the club square to the target as long as possible during the swing.
I’m going to focus on fixing the problem of having a bent or cupped wrist, and if you don’t have this, you can skip right over this part. But if you do have this horrible position at the top of your backswing, keep reading.
Let’s start from the beginning. Short of giving a complete golf swing lesson here, I must at least tell you this. This is going to be useful to you if you don’t have a good grip.
That’s fine. You’re doing it right now, and though it might take some time to get comfortable, don’t get discouraged, or fall back in to your old bad habit.
Now your hands are ligned up properly. That means that your ” V” on your right hand also points to your right shoulder when you put it on the club.Again, this will feel strange. Deal with it.
. If you get this grip right, and you better make sure it’s near perfect. This idea needs to be so well established in your muscle memory that you do it without thinking.
The position will put the clubface square to the target line. Here is a list of how to do it:
b) Well, it’s not wuite that simple undortunately. Forget the rest of your mechanics, and just think about that wrist staying straight. Grip the club with pressure with these two fingers. Don’t even move at this point. Just focus on turning that club in towards your forearm with these two fingers.
Keep still. Now look at the clubface. Now check this out. It will be an imperceptible detail to the average onlooker, but it will make a world of difference.
You’ll still have to do everything else, don’t get me wrong. You’ve now developed a pretty great swing, now go out and break 80 — then practice more.
Next: Putting Aids.
